Our government is committed to providing the best quality education for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We want to free up teachers’ time so instead of negotiating, they can be in the classroom and focus on our children’s education. That is where they want to be, and where they are needed most.
Our PC government will move from 38 local collective agreements to one provincial agreement.
Provincial bargaining puts teacher resources back on the front lines and in the classroom instead of sitting around a bargaining table.
Currently, the Manitoba Teachers Society negotiates with 38 separate school boards – 38 separate negotiations that for the past 4 years have all ended with every division having identical teacher salary increases.
Manitoba is the only province that has not moved to some form of provincial bargaining.
We will consult with stakeholders and work towards a streamlined approach that is in the best interest of teachers, students and taxpayers.
