Nic Curry was elected to his first term as the MLA for Kildonan on April 19, 2016. Born and raised in Winnipeg as part of a proud, entrepreneurial family, Nic is eager to serve his community of Kildonan as their new MLA.
Nic is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in History. As part of his academic work, he has presented papers at numerous conferences across Canada.
His strong belief in public service led Nic to join the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve in 2006. He has served with distinction 8 different provinces and territories and, during the flood of 2011, commanded soldiers as part of Operation LENTUS. After his many years of military service as a non-commissioned member, Nic obtained his commission to the rank of Second Lieutenant in 2015.
Nic has also worked in product development and marketing with Curry Industries, the family-owned small business founded by his grandfather in the 1970s. He has also been a part of the company’s international sales team serving the agricultural, environmental, and residential energy efficiency industries.
Nic married Ellen Gervino in 2015 and, along with their daughter Sophia, they make their home in the Garden City area. Nic and Ellen love everything that Kildonan has to offer including its wonderful parks and the great neighbours who create a strong and vibrant community. As MLA, he will work hard to address the need for a strong education system, shorter wait times for health services, and putting more money back into the pockets of hard working Kildonan families.
