PCs Win Spruce Woods Byelection

Colleen Robbins elected new MLA in PC victory

SOURIS — Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative Party won the Spruce Woods byelection Tuesday with PC candidate Colleen Robbins.

“I would like to thank the voters of Spruce Woods for this victory,” said Robbins. “I promise you I will be a strong voice in the legislature for this constituency—where I was born, raised, and have deep family roots.”

“The NDP threw everything they had at this riding but we still came out on top,” said PC Leader Obby Khan. “Wab Kinew and his NDP tossed in over $300 million to try and buy votes. When that didn’t work, they resorted to breaking the law.”

“We have seized the momentum with this victory. After Kinew ignored Westman for the last 2 years, Spruce Woods voters saw through his deception. This sends a clear message to the premier and his NDP: stop making promises you have no intention of keeping.”

Prior to calling the byelection, Kinew and a series of NDP cabinet ministers took trips to Spruce Woods to make announcements designed to influence local voters. It is these kinds of empty promises and political games Manitoba voters are tired of, Khan noted.

“This is a new PC era, with a new leader, a new energy, and now, a new MLA to join our team,” said Khan. “Colleen Robbins may be the first MLA to join this new PC era and this growing PC team, but she won’t be the last.”

The Spruce Woods byelection was called after PC MLA Grant Jackson resigned to run federally in the spring of 2025.
