Opposition Leader Brian Pallister was in Brandon today to pay tribute to Manitoba’s agriculture industry and celebrate another successful Ag Days at the Keystone Centre.
“This important event is a testament to an ever-evolving industry and the fine people who continue to make it vibrant. Ag Days provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of agriculture in Manitoba and remind us to celebrate it,” said Brian Pallister.
Agriculture alone was worth approximately $2 billion in 2013-2014 and represents 25 percent of Manitoba’s exports. This essential industry is also closely linked with many others such as food processing, manufacturing, transportation and financing. The agricultural sector is significant not only in terms of GDP, but it is estimated that 1 in 10 jobs is directly or indirectly dependent on these industry.
“This is evident by the diverse crowd of attendees and vendors on display at this great event,” added Pallister.
