NDP refuses to support stadium audit - Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba

Manitobans deserve the stadium they paid for, they deserve answers: Stefanson

Today, the NDP refused to pass a Progressive Conservative motion which invited all members of Manitoba’s Legislative Assembly to request that the Auditor General conduct a comprehensive audit of the Investors Group Field construction project.

“If the NDP has nothing to hide, there is no reason why it wouldn’t officially support our call for a comprehensive audit,” said Official Opposition Leader Brian Pallister.

It is estimated that cost overruns for Investors Group Field are in the tens of millions of dollars and climbing. However, total overrun and repair costs for the essentially new stadium are unknown as repairs are ongoing and further problems and complications could become apparent.

“Manitobans deserve the stadium they paid for,” said Opposition City of Winnipeg Critic Heather Stefanson. “There are multiple allegations the NDP rushed the stadium’s construction to be used as a 2011 provincial election prop. Manitoba taxpayers deserve to know what really transpired.”

Manitobans are tired of the NDP’s mismanagement and broken promises and want a change for the better.
