Health and Senior’s Care is at Risk Never. We will build 1,200 more personal care home beds and develop a funding model to fast-track construction of personal care homes with non-profit organizations.
Pallister and Filmon cut 1,000 nurses and drove away doctors False. The health authority transferred nurses as they reorganized hospitals. No nurses were cut.
Pallister says U.S style two-tier healthcare is “what Manitobans want to see” False. Greg Selinger’s NDP put in the highest ambulance fees in Canada. If that’s not two-tier health care, what is?

That Brian Pallister will somehow restrict access to cancer drugs.
False. At no time ever has the PC Party ever said, suggested, or even hinted at reducing patient access to cancer care treatment. We did not and we will not.

Infrastructure

Brian Pallister will cut the NDP infrastructure plan by 25%, or $300 million per year False. We will spend $50 million MORE per year on infrastructure.
Highway, road and flood protection projects and 20,000 good jobs will be cut False. We committed to building Lake Winnipeg flood outlet. We will spend more on strategic infrastructure investment to create jobs.
Pallister and Filmon made deep cuts to highways False. Provincial funding actually rose for highways, but due to federal cutbacks, the overall amount declined.

Education

Pallister cut 700 teachers with Filmon False. “In fact, the numbers of teachers actually increased by 30 when Brian Pallister was a member of Filmon’s cabinet”. (WFP)
Education is on the table for Pallister’s cuts False. Education is the No. 1 investment in the future of our province. We will protect front line services in education.
No pledges on K-12 support or smaller classes False. We have announced that we will invest in a new Read to Succeed program to improve literacy rates and learning results.
Wants tuition fees hiked by almost $3,000 per year, to match Saskatchewan False. Never said that. We will work with stakeholders to ensure tuition fees remain affordable.

Pallister’s Cuts Drive Costs Up

His Reckless tax cuts mean fee and tax hikes soon after False. Our plan for tax relief will see the PST rolled back to 7%, tax brackets indexed, and the basic personal exemption increased and we’ll also cancel the NDP vote tax subsidy.
He won’t commit to keeping Hydro and home care public. False. We will keep Manitoba’s largest crown corporation publicly owned. We will protect frontline health and education services for people and the workers who provide them.
Pallister’s privatized child care means fees will double False. Our commitment on childcare is to do what the NDP have not done. We are committed to the creation of 550 new licensed family child care spaces and to increase per-space funding for those providers. We are also committed to increasing the number of spaces in schools and to better incentives to encourage Manitobans to train as early childhood educators.

Against the NDP’s anti bullying legislation protecting children in schools   Wrong. We tried to strengthen the legislation for better protection of our children and the NDP refused to cooperate.
Against same-sex, equal marriage.    False. Brian Pallister’s record on support for equal marriage speaks for itself. Brian has been an advocate for same-sex and matrimonial property rights since the 1980’s.   
Absent on Indigenous Peoples Issues.     Wrong. Our detailed and costed platform commits to the development of Urban Aboriginal Economic Development Zones, and in establishing a Duty to Consult framework.
Against the rights of working people.      False. Organized labour has contributed tremendous benefit to Manitoba, Brian himself was a former labour representative and believes in the rights of workers and the role of organized labour. The PC platform guarantees the right to a secret ballot vote in workplaces to foster a more open labour environment with fairness to all.
