Jeannette Montufar was born in Guatemala and has called Winnipeg her home since 1985. She is a professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba, an author, and founding partner of a Winnipeg-based transportation engineering consulting company.
Jeanette is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, holding a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, as Master’s Degree in Science, and a Ph.D. She is also a registered Professional Engineer in Manitoba and served as a Councillor with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba. Jeanette is also an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Jeanette has received over 20 national and international awards for her contribution to the transportation engineering profession and to the community, including a YMCA/YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in Leadership and Management. She is the founder of the Hummingbird Education Fund, which is intended to provide financial support to underprivileged Canadian women who wish to pursue post-secondary education.
Jeannette enjoys spending time with her husband Luis and their teenage daughter at home or on road trips. She also enjoys sculpting as well as writing short stories and poetry. She is excited to be a part of a new Progressive Conservative government that will deliver a better plan to strengthen our education system, improve infrastructure and transportation, and deliver better healthcare for our families.
