Heather Stefanson on NDP Lies

"I cannot stand by and witness this kind of behaviour anymore."

heather-author.pngIn my 15 years of politics I have witnessed the NDP attack our party by spreading false information ‎time and time again. I have had enough. More recently, they have attacked our Leader, Brian Pallister. What they have said about Brian is absolutely false. I cannot stand by and witness this kind of behaviour anymore. Regardless of political stripe, this is not who we are as a province.

Various media outlets recently demonstrated the NDP attacks against Brian are false (Free Press, Sun and CJOB). To quote one outlet, “NDP Attack Ads Full of Lies.” I encourage you to not only read these articles and listen to the interviews, but post links to them on social media and discuss them with your friends, family and personal networks. Write a letter to the editor of your local media outlet of choice, if you feel so moved.  A lie only has power if we allow it to stand unchallenged.

Challenging the lies in the NDP attack ads will require more than our condemnation. I ask each of you to join me in sharing Brian’s story and show as many people as possible the dedicated and compassionate person we know him to be.

Like many of you, I knew Brian since well before he became our Leader. He has represented our great province around the world in sport and in business. As a teacher, he came to understand the power one person can have in helping another strive to reach their full potential. As a small business owner, he knows the difference creating a job can make in a struggling community. As a politician, he has fought for fair taxation for families, open and accountable government, and matrimonial property rights for aboriginal women.

In everything he does, Brian’s passion and commitment to our province and the success of its people is exceeded only by his love for his family.

I am a proud member of the Brian Pallister Progressive Conservative Team.

Each of you has done so much to support us. For that, we thank you. Our work, however, is not yet done. I ask each of you to join me and my colleagues as we challenge the NDP lies directed against Brian.

The provincial election will be a competitive, often heated, hard fought race. But that does not mean it cannot be an election based on truth. What it should be based on – what we will strive to make it based on – are the Manitoba values we all share. The values of openness, honesty and integrity. We will clearly articulate the principles guiding those values, and the policies to back it up. Manitobans will have a pretty clear choice.
