The Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba is pleased to announce Doug Lauvstad as its candidate in the constituency of The Pas for the 2016 provincial election.
“Doug is a strong member of our team, with his extensive experience as an advocate for education, industry and Northern Manitoba as a whole,” said PC Leader Brian Pallister. “I look forward to working with Doug as we strive to bring a change for the better to The Pas, and to all of Manitoba.”
Doug is executive director of the Northern Manitoba Sector Council, an association of the region’s largest industrial sectors of mining, forestry and energy. In this position, his focus is building and sustaining a world-class workforce throughout the province’s North. Passionate about Northern people and issues, Doug was also executive director of The Pas’ campus of University College of the North. In addition, he’s a member of the Premier’s Economic Advisory Council and chairman of the Northern Health Region’s board of governors.
The PC Party is continuing to build momentum across Manitoba, with more nominations coming in the weeks and months ahead.
The PCs have so far nominated 45 candidates in the 57 constituencies. Of the party’s 29 new candidates, 11 are women.
