Manitoba is the child poverty capital of Canada - again.
A new report indicates that 29% of kids in our province live in poverty.
An astonishing 62% of single-parent families are impoverished - that's Canada’s worst rate. We're 16 percentage points above the national average!
The report cites a severe lack of government support for low-income families. We couldn't agree more.
A new Progressive Conservative government will raise the Basic Personal Tax Exemption, allowing low-income households to keep more of their money for their needs.
We'll also support Urban Aboriginal Economic Development Zones in partnership with First Nations to create jobs and economic opportunities together.
We'll provide a stronger way up for Manitoba’s children by improving our education results beginning with better reading scores.
