Cathy is proud to call River East her home.  As a long time resident of North Kildonan, she is passionate about her River East community.  A proven leader and advocate, she knows the issues affecting her community and will continue to be the strong voice River East families expect and deserve.

Cathy was born in Winnipeg’s North End to a close-knit family of Ukrainian and Polish descent.  At an early age she moved to North Kildonan, where her family established deep roots. Her parents instilled in her a strong work ethic and taught her the importance of honesty, integrity and compassion, values that guide her in all aspects of her life.

Volunteering and giving back to her community is important to Cathy. She spent many years as an executive member at Gateway Recreation Centre and also coached, convened and managed numerous sports teams.  She chaired the fundraising committee when they undertook a successful capital campaign to raise money for the installation of the Sportsplex elevator, to ensure all users had equal accessibility to the facility.

Cathy was the President of the Sun Valley Parent Association when they successfully raised funds for playground and school improvements. She’s an active Gold Heart Canvasser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of MB and the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division.

Cathy was the recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her outstanding and exemplary contributions to her community.

Following her career with a major financial institution, Cathy served as the Special Assistant to Bonnie Mitchelson, the former Minister of Family Services. Currently employed in the public sector as a Resource Officer,Cathy would bring to the legislature a good balance and understanding of both the financial and social issues facing our province.

Cathy and her husband, Herb raised their three sons in River East and they are also proud grandparents of two beautiful little granddaughters.

She is excited to be part of the new Progressive Conservative team that shares a vision for a better Manitoba. A Manitoba that will provide exciting opportunities for our young people, better healthcare for our seniors and a brighter future for all Manitobans!
