Allie Szarkiewicz immigrated to Canada from Poland with her parents when she was a young girl and has called Winnipeg home since 1960. As an immigrant, Allie knows the limitless potential of life in Canada and, as the MLA for Logan, will work hard to ensure all Manitobans can reach that potential.
Allie grew up in the North End and graduated from Sisler High School. She then enrolled at the University of Manitoba, completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and an Education Degree specializing in Early Childhood Education. A rewarding 30-year teaching career in local elementary and middle schools followed. In addition to teaching, Allie worked with the Manitoba Department of Education to assist with the creation of provincial exams.
Allie is a strong advocate for adolescent literacy programs and has presented on this topic at various National Teacher and Education Conferences throughout Canada and the United States including the annual SAGE (Special Area Group) Conferences held in Manitoba.
Now retired from teaching, Allie continues to help others by working in the field of Human Resources as well as running an online Home Based Business. She is actively involved in her community as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee at the Grace Hospital in conjunction with the WRHA, and with the Assiniboia Library Advisory Board.
Allie is the proud mother of two grown sons. She believes that a better future is possible in Manitoba and is proud to be running with the new Progressive Conservative team as the candidate for Logan.
