Biography:
Rick Borotsik is a long time resident of Brandon with decades of public service. He started his political career at Brandon's city hall as the University Ward's alderman in 1978. He was later elected Mayor of Brandon in 1989 and served in this position until he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris in 1997. Rick has held various critic portfolios during his time in office including: Finance and Crown Corporations Council. When Rick was Mayor of Brandon, he was instrumental in attracting the 1995 World Curling Championship and 1997 Canada Summer Games to Brandon.
As MP for Brandon-Souris, Rick worked extremely hard on behalf of agricultural producers and was involved in the relocation of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry to CFB Shilo. Rick also served as the National Caucus Chair and Party Whip.
Currently, he represents the people of Brandon West in the Manitoba Legislature. During his time in the legislature, he has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets.
