Biography:

Myrna Driedger was first elected MLA for Charleswood in 1998. Over the past decade she has held a variety of roles, including as the critic for Education, Citizenship, Youth, Family Services, Health, Status of Women, Persons with Disability, Healthy Living, and Healthy Child Manitoba.

Before entering public life, Myrna worked as a registered nurse; with experience in general duty, medical and nursing research, patient education and nursing administration.

Volunteering and giving back to the community has always played a significant role in Myrna's life. She served as president of Child Find Manitoba and is active with many community safety organizations.

Myrna's professional achievements have earned her recognition on the "Canadian Who's Who" list as well as the "Who's Who of Canadian Women". In 2008, she was elected Vice-Chair of the Canadian Region of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians.

In her years of public service, Myrna has been and continues to be a strong advocate for health, education, justice and economic issues, as well as a champion of youth, seniors' and womens' issues.

Myrna has called Charleswood home for over 30 years and with her husband Hal has two sons, Rhys and Curtis.
