Economy / Taxes
Manitobans are over taxed. Under the NDP, our income tax levels are among the highest in Canada which stifles the creation of new jobs. While entrepreneurs and small businesses struggle, the NDP has grown the size of government at an unprecedented rate, increased our debt and repealed our balanced budget laws.
A Progressive Conservative government will simplify and reduce our taxes, bring back balanced budget laws and mandate the repayment of our debt. Prudent management of our government and economy will create stability and allow us to weather economic storms.
Get involved in developing economic and tax policy.

Fighting Crime
Gary Doer and the NDP have failed to reverse the trend of increased violent crime and gang activity in Manitoba during their three terms in government. Gang activities and drug trafficking that was once limited to a few neighbourhoods is now spreading across our cities and into small towns. Enough is enough and it is time for change.
To make our communities safer we need more police officers on the streets and the resources to fight gangs, drug traffickers, violent offenders, sexual predators and child pornographers. Too often, our police do not have the manpower and resources to effectively combat crime.
Help us develop policies to fight crime.

Education
Children are our greatest resource and it is paramount to provide them with the best possible education. To reach this goal, each school must be given the resources and authority to address the needs of our students. With this authority comes accountability and the right of parents and the public to know how their schools are performing. A system with real accountability allows us to assess schools that consistently under perform and determine how we can better serve their students.
Too often, disadvantaged students are neglected by a system that does not provide our teachers with the proper tools and environment to teach. Only by properly tracking the progress of all of our students will we be able to ensure that they receive a first class education.

Health Care
Manitobans deserve high quality and effective health care. Gary Doer and the NDP, promised to fix hall way medicine but after three terms in government our system is broken. Patients remain in hallways and waiting rooms for hours before seeing a doctor. Young families and seniors cannot find family doctors. Rural Manitobans face unimaginable conditions after the NDP closed 18 rural emergency rooms.
Progressive Conservatives believe in a publicly funded health care system that provides timely and accountable services to patients. All Manitobans, regardless of where they live, deserve accessible and quality care. To ensure this quality care, we will fight bureaucratic waste and ensure that every dollar spent on health care is accounted for and goes to providing better care.
Get involved in helping us develop policy to save Manitoba's health care system.

 Natural Heritage
& Environment
Manitoba is blessed with some of the most beautiful lakes, rivers, forests and countryside. Every summer hundreds of thousands of Manitobans visit our parks, lakes and rivers to enjoy our natural beauty. Progressive Conservatives understand the importance of preserving our natural heritage and will fight to preserve our environment.
We believe in growing our economy but not at the cost of our environment. Development in Manitoba must be sustainable and take into consideration the preservation of our air, water and land.

Small Business
Under the NDP, our entrepreneurs and small businesses have been overburdened with taxes and paperwork. This environment stifles opportunities and compromises our competitiveness for jobs in a global economy.
A Progressive Conservative government will strive to make Manitoba the best place in Canada to establish and develop a responsible business. We will cut taxes on small businesses, reduce paperwork, simplify employment laws and reduce interprovincial trade barriers.
Help us build a responsible business environment.

Working for Rural
Manitoba
Progressive Conservatives recognize that agriculture has shaped our history and is integral to our future. For too long, the NDP government has neglected their responsibility to farm families and rural communities. As a result, these communities have a health care crisis, deteriorating infrastructure and diminishing economic opportunities. A Progressive Conservative government would create sustainable clean energy jobs for rural Manitoba, provide first class health care and rebuild our infrastructure.
Help us draft our plan for rural Manitoba.

Seniors
Seniors worked hard to build the Manitoba we know and love today. They have worked the fields, protected our streets, built our economy and are responsible for the prosperity that we enjoy. Our crumbling health care system, skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs and outdated tax system do not do them justice. Too many seniors are struggling to get by and a Progressive Conservative government will do more to help take care of them.
Get involved in developing compassionate policies to help our seniors.

Families
For our children to have the lives we dream for them, we must provide the environment for strong families and communities. A Progressive Conservative government will support parents by implementing fair and practical policies that help them on a day-to-day basis. To start, we will create a fair tax system to support working families and enhance greater flexibility for parents in the work place.
Help us develop policy to support working families.

Inland Port
Manitoba has historically been the transport hub of Canada. We are the Keystone Province and it makes logical sense for Manitoba to be the centre of our nation's transportation industry. Progressive Conservatives support the development of our Inland Port and have the knowledge and ability to make it a reality.

Clean Energy
Progressive Conservatives believe that Manitoba must be a leader in the creation of clean energy technology. While our neighbours to the west focus on oil and gas, a Progressive Conservative government will be looking to the future of clean energy through hydro, solar and wind alternatives. These renewable energy resources are integral to our future and have the potential to breathe life into many of our small towns and communities.
We will depoliticize the activities of Manitoba Hydro so it can serve its mandate of providing affordable energy to all Manitobans. A Progressive Conservative government will also build the next hydro line down the more affordable and environmentally friendly East Side of Lake Winnipeg.

Ethics & Accountability
Manitobans want their government to be ethical, responsible and accountable. We believe that only through true transparency and honest accounting will Manitobans have the government they deserve. A Progressive Conservative government will bring back Manitoba's balanced budget laws and introduce legislation to eliminate our debt.
To preserve our democratic accountability, we will repeal the NDP's "vote tax", respect fixed election dates, toughen our laws on lobbyists and ban government advertising during election years.
Get involved in the development of our ethics and accountability policies.

First Nations and Métis
First Nations and Métis people currently represent 15% of Manitoba’s population, and will play a key role in the future success of our province. To date, they have faced tremendous challenges, such as barriers related to labour force participation and social inequality. These challenges must be addressed by all three levels of government.
Progressive Conservatives believe by working in a true partnership with Aboriginal leaders, community activists, citizens and stakeholders is key to tackling these challenges.
Help us develop policy to address these challenges.

Healthy Living
Manitobans should be rewarded for making healthy choices that help constrain our long term health care costs. Healthy behaviours and practices reduce the strain on our health care system and lead to better lives. A Progressive Conservative government will fight for healthy lifestyles and preventative medicine.

Mental Health & Disabilities
Progressive Conservatives believe that Manitobans with mental health issues deserve proper care and support. Providing these essential services to our youth and adults with mental health issues will reduce the systemic strain on our health, justice and social services.
Also, everyone must be free to participate and contribute to our society. Unnecessary barriers for people with disabilities must be brought down to ensure that all Manitobans have the opportunity to live full and productive lives.

Urban Planning
A Progressive Conservative government will work hard to build vibrant and sustainable communities. A big part of a vibrant community is a quality community centre and local school. Unfortunately under the NDP, many of our communities are lacking sufficient community centres and do not have a local school. A Progressive Conservative government will fight to reverse this trend.
Cycling or walking to work year round is not an option for many Manitobans but we will ensure that green transportation operations are available for all Manitobans. We will also tackle Manitoba's infrastructure deficit by properly funding the development and maintenance of our roads and bridges.
